With its pleasant climate and reputation for “little snow in winter and flowers blooming all year round,” it is an ideal destination for both living and tourism. Important Reminders:
| DAY2 | Guangxi: Qinglan Scenic Area Photo Spots / New Yaoshan Scenic Area / Yangshuo Grape Town’s “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” Painting · Sunset at Wulong Spring |
Morning: Photo opportunities at Guihai Qinglan (approx. 60-minute tour) Guihai Qinglan, a 4A-level national scenic area, covers an area of 2.29 square kilometers and features over 200 peaks. With art and culture at its core, the site has been developed into a comprehensive leisure and resort complex. The scenic area features 1,100 acres of imported turf, resembling a European village. In the distance, rolling hills with uniquely shaped peaks adorn the landscape and enrich the visitors’ experience, earning it the nickname “Little Switzerland of Guilin.” As a new viral hotspot in downtown Guilin, this is where Dong Yuhui from “Oriental Selection” once hosted a New Year’s Eve livestream, and it also serves as the venue for the Strawberry Music Festival. With its unique natural scenery and diverse leisure and vacation experiences, Guihai Qinglan has become a highly sought-after new “internet-famous” landmark in downtown Guilin, offering photo opportunities that are sure to make for stunning social media posts. Whether you are an art enthusiast, a nature explorer, or a leisure traveler, you can find your own unique enjoyment here. Cultural tourism is the study of experiential design and the art of storytelling. What Guilin should be selling is not merely the right to view its landscapes, but the possibility of entering a different rhythm of life—a life nourished by nature, steeped in culture, and soothed by authentic living. Immerse yourself in the nightlife of the locals and experience what it’s like to be a true Guilin native. Understanding Guilin begins with Mount Yaoshan; you won’t truly know Guilin’s scenery until you’ve reached its summit. Let’s climb to the top!
Afternoon: New Yaoshan Scenic Area · Complimentary cable car ride (valued at 110 yuan; tour duration: approx. 90 minutes) Guilin's Yaoshan Mountain is a National 4A-level tourist attraction and the highest peak within Guilin's urban area, with its main peak reaching an elevation of 909.3 meters. 350 million years ago, Guilin was a vast ocean, and Yaoshan was an island that emerged from the sea at that time; as a result, it is also the only earthen mountain in Guilin. In 2023, the scenic area received a total investment of 150 million yuan. It introduced a brand-new cable car system utilizing Austrian technology (cable car fees included), specially created the Sky Garden and Rainbow Walkway, and established a cloud-level Instagram-worthy café and a wind chime corridor—all of which offer exceptionally photogenic backdrops. The mountain’s ridgeline extends roughly from north to south, resembling a crouching bull. It was named after Emperor Yao, as a temple dedicated to him was built on the mountain during the Zhou and Tang dynasties. Only from the summit of Yaoshan can one fully appreciate the poetic imagery of “a thousand peaks standing tall amidst the wilderness, a single river embracing the city as it flows,” and “mountains encircling the city, the city embracing the mountains, a single river winding around the city.” Hence the saying: “If you haven’t climbed to the top of Yaoshan, you haven’t truly seen the scenery of Guilin.” Yaoshan offers scenic beauty throughout the four seasons: in spring, rhododendrons cover the mountainsides, adorning the peaks in a riot of colors; in summer, the hills are lush with pines and bamboos, creating a verdant landscape; in autumn, maple leaves turn red and cypresses turn purple, while wild chrysanthemums bloom across the fields, creating a tapestry of gold and green; in winter, snowflakes drift down, adding a unique charm. Standing atop Yaoshan and gazing into the distance, the city’s skyscrapers appear scattered like stars. The breathtaking beauty of Guilin—with a thousand peaks encircling the green fields and a river embracing the city—unfolds before your eyes. Here, you can also witness the sea of clouds and admire the “Reclining Buddha” formed by the surrounding mountains. At an altitude of over 900 meters, above the sea of clouds, lies a dreamlike, hidden realm known as the “Mirror of the Sky.” It is not just a gimmick for social media check-ins, but a celestial paradise hand-painted by Mother Nature. Far removed from the hustle and bustle, ascending to this spot feels like stepping to the edge of the heavens. The viewing platform is built high above the ground; beneath your feet lie the layered karst peaks, while before your eyes stretch the boundless sky and drifting clouds. Wulong Spring in Yangshuo’s Putao Town offers a level viewing platform that requires no physical exertion to reach. Switching from the city panorama at Yaoshan to the sweeping landscape of Wulong Spring at sunset provides both a high-altitude bird’s-eye view by day and a low-angle panoramic vista at dusk. These two experiences complement each other in terms of scenery and physical effort—authentic perspectives, no false promises!
Yangshuo's Putao Town: “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” · Sunset at Wulong Spring (approx. 90-minute tour) The “Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” Viewpoint at Wulongquan in Yangshuo’s Putao Town is currently the only natural viewing platform in Guilin that has been consistently validated by the photography and tourism industries over the long term. It takes its name from the fact that the natural landscape perfectly replicates Wang Ximeng’s “Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” from the Northern Song Dynasty. This area features typical karst topography and is the latest viral tourist hotspot! Unlike the many subpar “wild” viewing spots on the market—which rely solely on a single mountain range, partial imitations of mountain shapes, or fail to live up to their claims—Wulong Spring features all four essential elements: expansive paddy fields, village smoke rising from chimneys, arched peak forests, and layered mountain silhouettes. This aligns perfectly with the “mountains-water-settlements” compositional logic of the painting, making it the authentic “Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains” (there are many knockoff “wild” spots out there, so please be sure to distinguish between them). At sunset, the ever-changing mountain ranges and meandering rivers sketch out a natural ink-wash scroll. Climb to the central observation deck, where a 360-degree panoramic view takes in the entire landscape of layered peaks. This is the location where the viral Warring States-era robe photo shoots currently sweeping the internet were taken, and it is a paradise for travel photographers and photography enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re photographing people or landscapes, the success rate here is 100%! After getting off the bus at this stop, the walking distance is no more than fifty meters, with no uphill climb and zero physical exertion required.
| DAY3 | Scenic Views of Xitang / Three-Star Cruise on the Li River from Xingping / Xingping Ancient Town / Photo Opportunity with Cormorants at the 20-Yuan Banknote Location / Two-Person Bamboo Rafting on the Yulong River / Yangshuo West Street |
Morning: Scenic Views of Xitang (approx. 20-minute tour) Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic views of Xitang along the Li River from the bus. This is the most beautiful road along the Li River. Xitang’s scenic beauty is surrounded by rolling green mountains on all sides, and it is also home to a unique alpine lake; the interplay of mountains and water creates a serene and picturesque landscape. The lake water is crystal-clear, with rippling emerald waves. A single rock, a clump of green bamboo, and a patch of grass blend naturally into the scene, creating a picturesque pastoral landscape with neatly arranged houses. This is the heart of Guilin’s mountains and waters, the center stage of the Li River—where others are in the audience, but you are right in the spotlight.
Xingping Three-Star Cruise on the Li River (Xingping–Fisherman’s Village) (Approx. 90-minute tour) Take a three-star boat from Xingping to cruise the Li River from Xingping to the Fishing Village. This stretch—the route taken by former U.S. President Clinton during his visit to China—is also known as the “Presidential Tour” and represents the essence of the Li River. The scenic beauty of Xingping is the very setting featured on the new 20-yuan banknote. Here, the river is wide, the reflections are crystal-clear, and the scenery is breathtaking. (A Refreshing Experience) Next, head to Xingping Ancient Town to hear its millennia-old tales. Pose for a photo with a veteran cormorant fisherman, and let’s step right into the scenery of the 20-yuan note together!
Afternoon: Xingping Ancient Town (Approx. 30-minute tour) Explore the ancient town of Xingping, a historic cultural hub nestled along the banks of the Li River. With a long history, the town still preserves ancient streets, bridges, opera stages, and temples. There is an old saying that “the scenery of the Li River is found in Xingping,” and this is also the “Xingping Scenic Spot” featured on the 20-yuan note of the fifth series of Renminbi. Exclusive Custom Experience: To allow our esteemed guests to immerse themselves in the authentic natural scenery and local culture, we have specially arranged for cormorants to pose for photos with you. With the 20-yuan note as the backdrop and the cormorants as subjects, you’ll appear together in the frame—stepping into the world of the banknote to create a beautiful keepsake! Just as you should savor the tender heart of a vegetable, when visiting the Yulong River, you must experience the two-person bamboo raft ride.
Yulong River Bamboo Rafting (2-person raft, approx. 60-minute tour) The Yulong River is located within the Ten-Mile Gallery, the core scenic area of Yangshuo. The river offers various touring options, including hiking, group rafting, and 2-person bamboo rafting. The 2-person rafting experience offers the most beautiful scenery and the best overall experience, though it is significantly more expensive. Not all rafting tours are called Yulong River Rafting. Please ensure you use the official, authorized Yulong River Rafting Pier to avoid ending up at a fake Yulong River site. This itinerary only includes bamboo rafting within the official Yulong River Scenic Area. Any violation of this policy will result in an on-the-spot compensation of 2,000 RMB per person.
Enjoy free time exploring Yangshuo West Street, a historic street with over 1,400 years of history that exudes a classical charm. Due to the large number of foreigners, there are many Western restaurants and English signs, so it is also known as “Foreigner Street.” (No driver or guide will accompany you during this free time.)
| DAY4 | Yinzi Cave / Aerial View of Fuli Bridge / Xiangshan Scenic Area / Guihua Commune Scenic Area / Group Drop-off |
Morning: Yinziyan Cave (approx. 60-minute tour) Visit this masterpiece of karst caves. The interior features magnificent, kaleidoscopic scenery, with various natural stalactites and stalagmites that are crystal-clear, immaculately white, and lifelike. They resemble the Milky Way cascading down from the night sky, sparkling with a glow akin to silver and diamonds—hence the name “Silver Cave,” hailed as “Guilin’s most beautiful cave.” A service reserved exclusively for VIPs—see below for the special experience arranged inside Silver Rock Cave…
[Product Highlights] Exclusive Gift: 1 cup of Cave Café coffee served amidst the cave’s illuminated scenery. Experience the VIP treatment as nature’s masterful craftsmanship combines with high-tech magic of sound, light, and electricity to create another masterpiece following the viral success of the Cliffside Bookstore at Cotton Cloud Sinkhole—the Cave Café with its illuminated scenery. As you reach the two-thirds mark of your journey through Silver Rock Cave—just when your energy is waning but the wonders are at their peak—you’ll find yourself at the very heart of the cave’s scenery, the center of the stage, where the Cave Café quietly makes its entrance! The Cave Café, with its illuminated rock formations, is Guilin’s largest natural cave café, offering a cool retreat in summer and warmth in winter. Sit back, sip your coffee, and admire the artistic light show inside the cave—it’s incredibly comfortable! Hold a cup of the cave’s exclusive, custom-blended “viral” coffee—no filters needed. While others are just passersby, you’re the star of the show; every snap becomes an enviable highlight for your social media feed! This is the most anticipated rest stop on your journey—sip a cup of coffee, recharge your batteries, and then head off to the “Snow-Capped Mountains and Flying Waterfalls”—it’s the perfect timing! The cave reveals the underwater erosion cross-section of the karst landscape, while Fuli Bridge showcases the surface-level cultural composition of the same terrain—one delves deep into the rock layers, the other unfolds a panoramic view of the river and surrounding peaks.
Yulong River · Fuli Bridge Aerial View (Approx. 60-minute tour) Fuli Bridge in Yangshuo is the best-preserved Ming Dynasty stone arch bridge on the upper reaches of the Yulong River. Built during the Ming Dynasty, the bridge and its reflection in the water form a perfect circle. From an aerial perspective, the bridge spans the meandering river, flanked by ancient trees and traversed by bamboo rafts. The bridge, water, bamboo, and mountains form a symmetrical composition, making this one of the very few aerial photography spots in the karst landscape that combines both ancient architecture and natural waterways. Unlike conventional ground-level views, aerial photography fully captures the closed circular structure formed by the bridge’s arch and its reflection, as well as the natural course of the river winding through the mountain peaks. Complimentary Drone Video: To enrich your journey, we’ve arranged a drone photography session and will provide each family with a 15-second aerial video. Next, we’ll visit one of Guilin’s most famous and endearing “old friends”—Elephant Trunk Hill!
Afternoon: Elephant Trunk Hill Scenic Area (approx. 30-minute tour) Capture the best frontal views and admire Elephant Trunk Hill—leave with no regrets. The mountain bears a striking resemblance to an elephant pausing by the Li River to drink, so lifelike and captivating that it draws visitors in. The Water Moon Cave at the front of the mountain curves like a full moon, piercing through the rock. The clear, emerald river water flows through the cave as if through the elephant’s trunk, and the cave’s reflection on the river’s surface creates the marvelous spectacle of “a bright moon beneath the water, a bright moon floating on the water.” This is not only the totem of Guilin’s landscapes but also the tangible embodiment of “the finest under heaven” in the hearts of countless people. It epitomizes Guilin’s natural beauty and will ensure your trip to Guilin leaves you with the most wonderful memories.
Osmanthus Commune (Approx. 90-minute tour) Osmanthus Commune, a 4A-rated scenic area, is an experiential venue centered around the osmanthus flower. Its core attractions include an exhibition of osmanthus culture, demonstrations of traditional osmanthus cake-making techniques, and tastings of osmanthus-derived products. It is also strategically located at the golden intersection between the airport and the bus station, serving as a natural hub. Groups will disband here: those with tight schedules can transfer directly to the airport or bus station, while those with more time can explore the park’s osmanthus-derived crafts and osmanthus trees of various ages. This experience offers a glimpse into the deep connection between the osmanthus tree and the people of Guilin, sparking visitors’ interest in the preparation and storage of osmanthus seeds as well as the cultivation of osmanthus trees. Special Gift: Osmanthus Ice Cream: Made with a milk base infused with dried Guilin osmanthus flowers and topped with edible dried osmanthus petals, this ice cream features a perfectly balanced sweetness. It will be distributed to all guests after the tour concludes. A single bite of osmanthus fragrance becomes a lasting memory of Guilin. This marks the successful conclusion of your vibrant Guilin itinerary.
Friendly Reminder: All tours conclude at 5:00 PM. We recommend scheduling return trains after 6:30 PM and flights after 8:00 PM! |
